Our volunteers have a strong impact in the community.
We match individual interests, skills and experience with productive community
opportunities. We have the application form on-line in a
PDF file. Either

our members will be in contact with you about opportunities.

communities of lower Fairfield County, there are many programs that will
match your needs in your home town. Please scroll down to see more
information on our programs.
Child Development Program, NEON
Read to pre-schoolers in their Head Start and School Readiness
classrooms to help them develop a love of books and reading.
CT Tourism Program
Volunteer as a ‘Travel
Counselor’ at the Welcome Center on I-95 in Darien. Provide information and
hospitality services to travelers and promote tourist attractions in
Connecticut. Travel assistance varies from simple travel questions to
computer searches. Training is provided as well as day trips to places
of interest and events in CT. A generous mileage reimbursement is
offered.
East Norwalk Library
Looking for “Friends of the East Norwalk Library” to assist new board
with putting together 2 annual book sales.
Family & Children's Agency
Many volunteer opportunities including mentoring, tutoring, child care
during parenting classes and clerical.
Friendly Connections
Friendly Visitor volunteers visit homebound seniors within the community
once a week. Teleconference Facilitators get to lead discussions and
lectures on various topics of interest in 30 or 60 minute telephone
groups. These services promote social connection, independent living and
enrichment for aging adults.
Knitting Teams
Knit scarves, hats, bibs and blankets to be distributed to different
organizations in the community.
Lockwood
Mathews Mansion Museum
Volunteers assist in museum.
Mailing
Teams
Label and stuff envelopes, plus other clerical duties in different
organizations.
Norwalk
Grassroots Tennis
Summer volunteers needed to
work with children on reading skills while they wait their turn to play
tennis. Spend 20-30 minutes with an individual child, helping them
practice their reading. This summer program for 5 – 18 year olds runs
Monday through Friday (weather permitting) at Roodner Court and Colonial
Village tennis courts. Volunteers are requested to help at least 1 hour
a week.
Norwalk Historical Society at
Mill Hill Park
Looking for a dedicated volunteer coordinator and other volunteers to
help at special events.
Norwalk Reads!
Help distribute free books to children at local libraries several
Saturdays during the year.
Norwalk Tree Alliance
Assist
with education regarding local trees and help with tree management
program. Click on logo at right for additional information.
Norwalk City Hall
Greet and assist residents of
Norwalk.
Partnership in Reading
‘Reading Consultants’ provides one-on-one reading time in local schools
and libraries. Volunteers must be available to come in at least once a
week; training is provided.
RSVP Senior
Medical Transportation Assistance Program
provides transportation to medical appointments for seniors in the
Westport- Weston Area. Volunteer drivers transport people in need of a
ride to their medical appointments. Insurance for drivers is provided by
RSVP.
This program
is a collaborative effort between RSVP, The Westport –Weston Departments
of Human Services and The Westport – Weston United Way.
Additional volunteer drivers are needed. Dispatchers are also needed. Please contact: Nancy Pratt at

Senior Centers & Residences
Volunteers needed to teach classes, run programs, provide entertainment,
lead discussions, teach computers, or provide administrative assistance.
Stamford Museum and Nature Center.
Assist with special events such as
Maple Sugaring Sunday.
Stepping Stones Museum
Assist
museum
visitors in different functions. From clerical work to being a
Volunteer Docent to assisting the in the Resource Center to leading art
and science based activities. Help is also needed for special events.
Training is provided for all new volunteers. Flexible schedules.
Tutors Needed!
Norwalk Community College’s College Pathways Program is designed to
support and motivate high school students who want to be the first in
their family to earn a college degree. Tutors are needed at area high
schools during the school year.
